I have all the time in the world right now due to lock down …lol
I am considering shipping her out in April to a very good driving coach .. I was thinking that getting someone who is well versed in driving could put some miles on her in a way that I cannot due to the fact that I’m working solo ..
What are your thoughts on this ? I trust this person and have witnessed her training and the ponies she turns out are amazing . Would my mare benefit from this ? I’ve never shipped a horse out before
That can be a really great way go Colleen. Having someone who’s done it hundreds of times can really set the table for success.
I would highly encourage you to keep working with her in the meantime. Every step you take to making your horse more solid will pay off in the long run. If it’s super easy for your trainer to get hitched and going right away, she can get your horse really solid for her return home.
Thanks Andy
I think that’s exactly what I will do … keep doing what I can do here by myself and put a solid foundation on her .
I figured out a way to put drag pressure on the traces and drive one handed at the same time in the round pen… it’s working really well so far
And the bungee cords work great !
Thank you so much
I really appreciate your replies
Merry Christmas Andy
I’ve been ground driving in an open bridle like you suggested … BIG difference !
Calm , relaxed … back to her old self
Still working on the other suggestions
It’s coming … slow and steady
Glad to hear. It doesn’t take much to turn the tide back in your own direction sometimes.
Time, is the one thing we can’t make happen faster, so go with it.
