I’m not a great person to preach about the perils of waiting until the last minute. I have that habit too.
However, waiting until the last minute to sign up for an online class is putting you and your horse at risk of experiencing profound sadness. Let me explain how.
Know Before You Go
If you were signed up for an in-person class that you had to physically attend, you’d check the location and maybe even look up directions and potential traffic issues a day or two in advance. Singing up before a class is the same way.
It allows you to make sure that everything goes smoothly when it’s class time. When signing up for a class, you get a confirmation e-mail right away that allows you to do a quick system check. You get to join the class, and you and your horse are happy because you get to learn good stuff.
But if you wait until the last moment, and something comes up like you accidentally typed “@bmail.vom” in your address instead of “@gmail.com”, you won’t have time to sort it out to get signed in. Then, you miss the class, and then there is sadness.
Senior Moments
Second, and this happens all the time… People Forget! After every class, I get e-mails that say “I forgot about the class, can I still sign up to get the recording and materials?”
For reasons way too boring and technical to bother to talk about, unfortunately, the answer is, “no.” And, once again, sadness because they missed a class they were really interested in.
What if something better comes up?
Finally, some people wait because they’re not sure if they’re going to be home at their computer when the class happens. I get it. It’s like saying “maybe” to the sorta goofy guy that asks you on a date for a Friday night because something better might just come up.
Then, nothing comes up, and you call sorta goofy guy, who actually is kind of fun to be around… and he’s made other plans, and you’re all alone on a Friday night. Again… sadness.
BUT WAIT! The cool thing is, if you say “yes” to the sorta goofy guy on Wednesday night (hint, hint), and something better comes up… YOU WON’T MISS ANYTHING!
That’s because as soon as you’re signed up for the class, you’re automatically going to get an e-mail that has a recording of the class and the materials the day after the class. So you get to have that last minute date with Tom Brady or that other cool guy with the even cooler name, and still, you get to see the class. It’s a win-win!
So that’s it. Consider yourself forewarned of the perils of waiting until the last minute to sign up for classes.
