Description
You could think of this as the original marathon driving position. The Hungarian position is a great progression from the riding position. It’s very intuitive to learn, with lots of leverage for work over rough ground and varied terrain.
This is a great position to learn if you’ve struggled with busy hands that disturb your horse. With the reins held in the left hand, it’s easy to quiet your interactions on the bit, yet you still have full use of the reins with the right hand. Your right hand is also free to handle the whip more accurately.
