It’s not 100% necessary to have pictures or video of you and your pony for our coaching sessions. We will get plenty accomplished just talking things out. However, even a little video can go a long way toward giving me insight into you and your pony.
Since each Group Coaching session will be about 90 minutes, I can’t guarantee that I’ll get to everyone’s video. Videos will be selected based on:
- Quality of media (the easier it is to see what’s going on)
- Relevance to the topic at hand
- Most teachable moments
Getting Good Video
Any video is better than no video (don’t get hung up on trying to make it perfect.) We don’t need a thing of cinematic beauty. We just need you and your pony, doing what you guys do. Of course, the better the video, the more we can learn from it together.
Many of our phones have really good cameras these days. Make sure you use the highest recording settings, and Just Say No to Vertical Video (please hold the phone horizontally!)

Let It Roll!
Longer clips are better than tiny snippets. We learn a whole lot more from 10 minutes of uninterrupted video than a bunch of 10 second clips. Sometimes it ca be hard to get a friend to just hang out and take video for a long time. 5 minutes feels like a long time when you’re behind the camera.
Still, it’s worth it to really emphasise to them that they should just let the camera roll, no matter what. If you find that moment of Zen right after the camera was turned off, it’s gone. If there’s stuff that isn’t useful, you can always trash it.
Quality Counts!
- Use the highest quality setting available on your recording device (4k isn’t necessary though.)
- Put the sun behind the camera. Shooting into the sun, even part of the time makes video hard to see.
- Use a tripod. Shaky video makes you horse hard to see. If you have a friend recording for you, some kind of stabilization is a big help.
Sharing Video
There are lots of way to get your videos to me. The top two best way are to upload your videos to Vimeo or Youtube. Both of those services offer free plans. You can use settings to make your video private, so only the people you want to see the videos can see the videos.
Once you’ve uploaded your video to one of those video platforms, all you have to do is send me the link. I can embed that video into your lesson page.
