Description
A great combined driving navigator is critical to have on the marathon. Learn what every CDE navigator needs to know to keep you safe, on-time, and on-course!
Keeping the Dusty Side Down
The navigator isn’t just along for the ride. One of the most important roles of the carriage driving navigator is to help keep the carriage safe and upright.
You’ll learn the most effective hand, body, and foot placement for the navigator to use to gain the most leverage on the carriage. There are also some pretty sketchy things that you’ll learn to avoid when zooming through hazards at top speed.
Doing Time
One of the most intimidating aspects of being a CDE navigator is keeping track of time. Don’t sweat it! Remember, we’re aiming for time windows not slots.
I’ll share with you the timesheet that I use at every combined driving event, and show you how I set up my timers so they don’t get trashed on course.
Understanding the Rules
Your navigator can only save you from getting penalties if they have an understanding of the rules of the game. They don’t have to know the whole rulebook, but they do need the key facts.
We’ll cover the most important things that the navigator needs to know to keep you penalty free, and some quick tips for keeping track of those rules.
