The outside rein is a critical element in how a horse turns, shapes his body, and balances. It determines the horse’s length of frame, bending, and accuracy.
It can also be one of the most difficult concepts for us to understand since it cuts against our natural instincts that tell us pull right = turn right. After all, how could a stronger left rein improve how the horse moves in a turn to the right?
